The Scent of Summer

From lotion to piña coladas, the scent of coconut is synonymous with summer. But coconut has much more going for it than its scrumptious aroma.

Coconut has been used in health and beauty treatments for hundreds of years thanks to its natural ability to moisturize and regulate oil in the skin.

Coconut oil is commonly used in hair care products because it helps fight dandruff and conditions hair. Coconut water, pulp and milk also are used in a bevy of scent-ilating bath and body products.

Luxury Products

I am addicted to Coconut Cream Sugar Soufflé from Lalicious, a moisturizing sugar scrub that exfoliates and hydrates even the driest skin. (Kate Hudson also adores the Lalicious collection.) Key ingredients, including coconut oil, sweet almond oil and cane sugar, combine to make a sumptuous scrub that serves up sweet scents and ultra soft skin.

Coconut Cream Sugar Soufflé sells for $34 at along with Coconut Cream Body Oil ($24) and Coconut Cream Body Butter ($24). Laura Mercier’s Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Body Crème ($55 at has the sweet scent of coconut combined with milk, almond and vanilla.

Sweet almond oil, coconut oil and macadamia oil come together to serve up succulently scented smoothness to the skin while Vitamins A, C, E and liposomes work to protect skin from environmental damage. Did I mention the scent of powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and vanilla meringue? It’s coconut at its irresistible best.

Housed in a wooden coconut decanter paired with a decorative hand-woven palm leaf, Ola Hawaii’s Hawaiian Coconut Tropical Bath Soak in coconut lemongrass, moisturizes and conditions skin with a proprietary mix of coconut cream, coconut butter and coconut milk mixed with Hawaiian salt, Hawaiian deep sea mineral salt and Hawaiian Alaea sea salt.
