Minding Her Business: Laurie Norris | Business Profile

Minding Her Business: Laurie Norris

Laurie Norris of Tiddleywink ToffeeName of business:

Tiddleywink Toffee

How long you have been in business for yourself?:

Several years

Business product or service:

Tiddleywink Toffee, the Thin English Delight, the very best thin toffee slathered in milk or dark chocolate covered with a variety of toppings. (walnuts, pretzels, almond & coconut, hot spicy pretzels, and crushed peppermint for the holidays)

What led you to start your business?:

The loss of a full time job after 19 years. The company downsized and eliminated a whole department. It was time to change it up and throw fate to the wind, so I decided to start a toffee business.

What kept/keeps you going during challenging times?:

The thrill of listening to people confirm that Tiddleywink Toffee is the best toffee they have tasted, so thin and buttery. Knowing that people believe in what I do.

One lesson you’ve learned during your entrepreneurial journey:

You have to keep a positive attitude, because it is so easy to get discouraged.

One thing about your business that makes you smile:

I realize I have done everything myself and people really love the product.

Favorite motivational quote:

There are so many, but one I like is: “Not admitting a mistake is a bigger mistake.” We all make so many and if we can learn something from our mistakes and turn them into something positive we can move forward.

Favorite chocolate:

I like dark chocolate of any kind!
